How new property tax rates are put into effect

When the county council changes property tax rates or tiers for the year, it must tell the finance director. The director must then use those new rates and tiers to calculate property taxes as the law requires.

If the tax rates and tiers for the tax year are increased or decreased, the council must notify the director of finance of the increased or decreased rates and tiers, and the director must employ those rates and tiers in the levying of property taxes as provided by this chapter.
