Return of appeal costs when taxpayer wins

If you appeal your property valuation to the board of review and win at least half of what you disputed, the county gives back the costs you paid. If you don't win that much, the county keeps all of the costs.

In the event of an appeal by a taxpayer to the board of review, if the appeal is compromised, or sustained as to fifty percent or more of the valuation in dispute, the costs deposited shall be returned to appellant. Otherwise, the entire amount of costs deposited shall be retained by the County. (Ord. 1076 § 3 (part), 1980: prior code § 6-1.101)
