Protests against a proposed ordinance

This section explains how landowners can protest certain proposed county ordinances. Protests must be in writing, filed with the County clerk before or at the hearing, and can be withdrawn in writing anytime before the hearing ends. The council can overlook mistakes in the protest's form or content.

Protests against an ordinance establishing a district, an ordinance of consideration, or an ordinance of annexation may be made in writing by owners of lands assessed or proposed to be assessed within a district and if made shall be in such form as may be prescribed by the County clerk. All written protests shall be filed with the County clerk before or at the hearing. The council may waive any irregularities in the form or content of any written protest. Written protests may be withdrawn in writing by the owner who protested at any time before the conclusion of the hearing. ( Ord. No. 4382, § 1, 2016 )
