How districts end and when this article applies

This section explains that districts end automatically when their time is up, without needing a new ordinance. The rules in this article only apply if the council wants to end a district early, before its scheduled end date.

This article shall not be construed as requiring an ordinance to effectuate the termination of each district. A district shall automatically terminate upon reaching the expiration of the term specified in the ordinance of formation. This article applies only if the council desires to terminate a district earlier than the expiration date specified in the ordinance of formation. ( Ord. No. 4947 , § 1, 2018)
