Fire chief's authority over volunteers and equipment

This section lets the fire chief use volunteers and private equipment to fight fires. Volunteers must be trained when possible and must work under a trained firefighter. It only covers the fire chief's authority, not other fire rules.

The fire chief may authorize volunteers, subject to the fire chief's direction and control, to assist the department of fire control in fighting a fire. The fire chief may also authorize the use of privately owned equipment in fighting fires. Volunteers shall, whenever possible, be trained in the basics of fire fighting and shall be under the supervision of a trained fire fighter while providing their services.
