Community gardens in underserved areas

The parks director must find spots in underserved areas for new community gardens on city land, and plan them with the community. This work must be done promptly, but only if it doesn't risk the city's finances.

(a) The director shall seek out locations in underserved areas for the siting of new recreational gardens at developed parks or undeveloped lands under the jurisdiction of the department for the benefit of the community which is served by the property. The planning and installation of new recreational gardens must be conducted in a timely manner in consultation with the benefitting community. (b) The implementation of this section is subject to the director's discretion and must not jeopardize the financial stability of the city.
