This section defines special words used in the mall rules. It tells you which malls are covered, what counts as an event, and who is a merchant. It also says which city department handles each mall.

For the purposes of this article, the following definitions apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning. College Walk Mall. The mall as defined in § 13-1.1 . Department. The department of parks and recreation, unless the context otherwise requires; provided that for Downtown malls, Fort Street Mall, and Union Mall, the term “department” means the department of transportation services. Downtown Malls. Collectively the College Walk Mall, Fort Street Mall, Kauluwela Mall, Kekaulike Mall, Kila Kalikimaka Mall, Sun Yat Sen Mall, and Union Mall. Event. The use of malls for any one or more of the following: (1) For membership drives sponsored by any person; (2) For organized activities sponsored by any person on any portion of malls, whether for profit or not; (3) For meetings, which are defined to mean any gatherings on malls sponsored by any person; and (4) For speeches or other communications made by any person and addressed to other users of the mall for the purpose of influencing their views on any subject. Fort Street Mall. The mall established pursuant to § 15-25.1 (b). Kauluwela Mall. The parcel designated by TMK 1-7-023:033. Kekaulike Mall. The area as described in § 13-15B.1 (d). Kila Kalikimaka Mall. The area as described in § 13-15B.1 (d). Malls District. The area from a private property line to a private property line as to the width of the mall, and physical demarcation indicating the length of the mall. Merchant. Any property owner who has been assessed for a mall improvement district, including lessees or tenants of such property. Sun Yat Sen Mall. The mall as defined in § 13-1.1 . Union Mall. The mall established pursuant to § 15-25.1 (a). )
