Fines and permit revocation for parking violations

This section sets fines for parking without a valid permit in a Residential Permit Parking (RPZ) zone and for misusing a permit. Each hour or day of violation counts separately. The director can also take away a permit for misuse.

(a) Fines. (1) Except as provided in § 15-30.4 (c), the registered owner of a vehicle not properly displaying an RPZ permit or other authorization pursuant to this article and parked on a street within an RPZ is subject to a fine to be determined by the director by rule adopted under § 15-30.7 . Every hour a vehicle remains parked in violation of this subdivision constitutes a separate violation. (2) A person misusing a permit, including but not limited to selling, counterfeiting, improperly using, or stealing a permit, or as otherwise determined by the director by rule adopted under § 15-30.7 , is subject to a fine to be determined by the director. Every day a permit is misused constitutes a separate violation. (b) Revocation. The director is authorized to revoke a permit if a person misuses a permit, including but not limited to selling, counterfeiting, improperly using, or stealing a permit, or as otherwise determined by the director by rule adopted under § 15-30.7 .
