How to transfer a bicycle registration

When you sell or give away a registered bicycle, the current owner and the new owner must sign the registration paper. The new owner must send it to the city within 20 days. The city will check it and issue a new registration in the new owner's name.

(a) Upon a transfer of the registration of a bicycle registered under this article, the person named on the face of the registration and the transferee shall endorse the certificate of registration to the intended transferee, or the transferee’s parent if such transferee is a child. (b) Within 20 days thereafter, the transferee shall forward the certificate of registration so endorsed to the director. Upon receipt of the certificate properly endorsed, the director shall examine and determine the genuineness and regularity of the transfer of registration of the bicycle, and the director shall prevent the transfer of registration of a bicycle by any person not entitled thereto. Upon being satisfied as to the regularity of the application for transfer of registration, the director shall reregister the bicycle in the name of the transferee and shall issue to the transferee a new certificate of registration. No bicycle registration under this article shall be transferred except as provided in this section. )
