Contracts for managing the city bus system

(a) The department shall contract with the private, nonprofit corporation established under Article 8 to manage, operate, and maintain the city bus system, and may contract with the private, nonprofit corporation established under Article 8 to manage, operate, and maintain the city special transit service on behalf of the city. (b) The department may contract with private entities, including the private, nonprofit corporation established under Article 8 , to manage, operate, and maintain the supplemental bus service on behalf of the city.
