When this building-moving law applies

This rule says you must follow the city's building-moving rules before moving any building or structure into or within Honolulu. Moving a building within one lot is exempt from these rules but still must follow the building, electrical, and plumbing codes. Factory-built housing has its own separate rules.

Chapter 18 , as amended, to the contrary notwithstanding, no person may move or cause to be moved any building or structure into or within the city without complying with this article and all other applicable provisions of Chapter 16 , as amended; Chapter 17 , as amended; and Chapter 19 , as amended; provided that any movement of a building or structure that is confined within the boundaries of a single lot will not be subject to this article, but will be subject to Chapter 18 and all other applicable provisions of the Building Code, as amended; Electrical Code, Chapter 17 , as amended; and the Plumbing Code, Chapter 19 , as amended. The transportation of factory-built housing is governed by Article 3 . )
