A copy, taken August 22, 2026. The version published by Honolulu is the one that governs, and it may have changed since. Check it before relying on anything here.
(a) When a plan or other data is required to be submitted by § 18-4.2 , a plan review fee must be paid when submitting plans and specifications for review. The plan review fee is 20 percent of the tentative building permit fee as set forth in Table No. 18-A , set out at the end of this chapter, based upon a preliminary estimated valuation of work, but not greater than $25,000; provided that for applicants who are persons with a history of making false statements, the building official may increase the plan review fee to 30 percent of the tentative building permit fee and the $25,000 fee maximum does not apply. Plan review fees are required in addition to the building permit fee.
(b) Exception. Plan review fees shall not be required for building permit applications for fences, retaining walls, swimming pools, driveways, or for any similar work performed for any city agency.
