Every year, the planning director works with budget officials and other city agencies to check that all capital improvement projects follow the city's plans. The director writes a report of the findings and sends it to the city council.

Annually, the director shall work jointly with the director of budget and fiscal services and other city agencies to review all projects in the city’s capital improvement program and budget for compliance and consistency with the general plan, the Central Oahu SCP and other development plans, any applicable special area plan provisions, and the appropriate functional plans. The director shall prepare a written report of findings to be submitted to the council in accordance with Charter § 6-1503.
