How and when special districts end

This section explains that special districts end automatically when their time is up, without needing a new law. It only applies if the city council wants to end a district early.

This article shall not be construed as requiring an ordinance to effectuate the termination of each district. A district shall automatically terminate upon reaching the expiration of the term specified in the ordinance of formation. This article applies only if the council desires to terminate a district earlier than the expiration date specified in the ordinance of formation.
