This section lists situations where the rules about appointments do not apply. It covers appointments that do not need council approval, temporary vacancies, and appointments to the rate commission. If your situation is one of these, the article's rules are not used.

The ordinance, as written (Honolulu County) — Inapplicability

(a) This article shall not apply to appointments to boards, commissions, or committees for which the mayor is not required by law, charter, ordinance, or rule to have either the council’s approval or confirmation. (b) This article also shall not apply to appointments for temporary vacancies as provided for in Chapter 3, Article 1 . (c) This article also shall not apply to appointments to the rate commission established under Charter § 6-1704.
