This section explains the special words used in the auction rules. It tells you what an auction, an auctioneer, the director, and a public auction room mean. These definitions apply unless the context says otherwise.

For the purposes of this article, the following definitions apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning. Auction. A sale, offering for sale, or exposing for sale to the highest bidder of any goods, wares, merchandise, or other property in an auction room. Auctioneer. Any person who is licensed by the director pursuant to HRS Chapter 445 and this article, as amended, to sell goods, wares, merchandise, or other property at auction. Director. The director of budget and fiscal services or the director’s duly authorized subordinates. Public Auction Room. Has the same meaning as defined in HRS § 445-22. )
