This section explains the penalties for breaking the pedicab rules in this article. Most violations can lead to a fine, jail time, or both. But breaking the specific rules in sections 36-5.7 or 36-5.8 has a smaller fine instead.

(a) Unless otherwise provided for in this article or subsection (b), any person violating this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year, or to both such fine and imprisonment. (b) Any person who violates or causes a pedicab to violate any provision of § 36-5.7 or 36-5.8 shall be fined not less than $15, but not more than $500. )
