(a) The city auditor shall be appointed by the council to serve for a term of six years as provided in Charter § 3-501 and thereafter until a successor is appointed. The council, by two-thirds vote of its entire membership, may remove or suspend the city auditor from office for cause. (b) The salary of the city auditor shall be equal to that of the majority of executive department heads who are subject to the salary commission. If no majority of such department heads is entitled to the same salary, then the salary of the city auditor shall be equal to the salary of the director of budget and fiscal services.
